Walt Disney Parks and Resorts celebrated the opening of new immersive experiences this week at Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort, continuing the rich legacy of innovation and storytelling to exceed guest expectations.
At Disney’s Animal Kingdom, Pandora – The World of Avatar invites guests to step into a mystical world beyond belief. As night falls, the park is transformed yet again with bioluminescent flora and special nighttime offerings which extend the magic long after the sun sets.
“Now, anyone who has ever dreamed of visiting this extraordinary world can explore the astonishing landscape and ecosystem, soar on the back of a banshee and actually become part of the Avatar adventure,” said Bob Iger, chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, at the May 24 dedication ceremony. “I don’t think the sense of awe and wonder will ever go away for me or for any of the guests that we will welcome here in the years to come.”
Guests can also now experience a thrilling adventure in the Super Hero universe with the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disneyland Resort. An original storyline and multiple ride profiles deliver endless entertainment for everyone, and this is only the start of what will be an even bigger Super Hero presence in the future.
“Like the smash-hit films that inspired it, this new attraction is action-packed, full of irreverent humor, and features an ‘awesome mix tape,’” said Bob Chapek, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “It’s a fantastic way for guests to experience the Super Hero universe like never before.”
Even more excitement is in store for guests as we bring many of the most popular stories and characters from The Walt Disney Company to life at our parks, including Toy Story Lands coming to Walt Disney World Resort and Shanghai Disney Resort, our first Frozen-inspired area at Hong Kong Disneyland as well as a Marvel-themed land there, and of course, Star Wars-themed lands in both Florida and California.
